City of Kingston Acquires the Farm – Where Do We Go From Here?

Our vision

To work with the community to conserve the fields, forest, and shoreline of Lemoine Point Farm for future generations.

Update on the Status of the Farm

In mid-February 2026, the City of Kingston successfully negotiated a settlement with the Estate of Mary Coverdale Winnett Fraser, to purchase Lemoine Point Farm (LPF) for roughly $12MM.

In a subsequent statement to media, the City of Kingston posted that “We recognize that this location is significant to Kingston. As we consider its future, the City will pursue partnerships with organizations such as the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority (CRCA) and other not-for-profit groups”.

Mayor Bryan Paterson added “These partnerships will help ensure the property remains a welcoming and sustainable space.” “We’re grateful for the chance to protect this important piece of local waterfront, and we look forward to working with residents to imagine what the future of Lemoine Point Farm will look like.”

For its part, the SLPF group considers this to be good news. It’s an important step in achieving our goal of working with the community to conserve the fields, forest, and shoreline of Lemoine Point Farm for future generations. We applaud the City for investing in one of the few remaining natural spaces within the urban boundary.
